The PR53AP model is suitable to use in high heat, with scrapers and mixers and in sticky process conditions. It is also compatible with clean-in-place (CIP) and sanitation-in-place (SIP) systems. Connectivity options include mA, HART, and Modbus RTU as a standard.

The measurement is based on optical measurement of the refractive index (RI). The RI can be measured from practically any liquid or slurry, and it is sensitive to dissolved material. Bubbles, particles or color do not affect the measurement.

Convenient installations directly to different size process pipes with standard sanitary and Variline couplings, or with a sanitary flow cell with measurement data incorporated to control system. Vaisala also offers miniature flow cell for bypass lines or sample lines, suitable for example in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Process refractometers are easy to install and low maintenance instruments. The optical measurement principle combined with an instrument with zero moving parts does not require regular maintenance.
